Roost Hostel Nikko

"The host is really nice! I went to Chuzenji very early in the morning, when I got back she thought I hadn't gone anywhere yet 😂. We talked about history for a little while, and she has good food recommendations. The dorm room bed was comfortable, I was the only guest in the room so it was very quiet at night. I love the common area for tea and sitting down for a while. It's a great place for a night or two in Nikko, great location."

"The platform for the dorm upper bed is very squeaky if you sit up or turn over at night. Hopefully the next room couldn't hear it. If you move in your sleep, the bottom bed might be better. The shower also has a low ceiling so be careful not to hit your head."

"Maintenance needs doing in a number of different places. It is also small if you need to go upstairs, not only vertically (as in most places in Japan), but horizontally as well (smaller people may not notice this)."

"Place is very neat and provide many amenities such as big kitchen or tea counter. Bathroom and toilets are shared but it is no problem in my opinion. Sleeping 'hollows' are very comfortable with small lamps, shelf and place to charge phone. Overall place keeps the 'japanese' style and is very nice. Service is not always there but if you reach them they are very helpful and kind : )) I really like the 'international' atmosphere of place by which I mean it is welcoming for people from all over the world and you will surely meet various interesting faces."

"Beautiful experience in this hostel located in the heart of Nikko. Room very clean and confortable like also the bathroom. The room are mixed and you can familiarized with people of every country. It's present a kitchen and a dining room. You can leave the luggage to the reception before and after the check in-out The World Heritage Shrines, Temple and Shinkyo Bridge are reachable around 20 minutes walking Train and bus station very near to the place. Thanks!"

"My boys love Room A of Roost Hostel Nikko. They love that the room have bunk beds. I love the overall vibe of the hostel, from the wood and shared facilities. Masa (the host) was very prompt and responsive. The staff were able to provide an immediate solution to the toilet light issue that we encountered during our 1st night. Doors and walls are very thin so noise might be a problem but for us they were okay. Location is quite a walk on an incline if coming from nikko station but its near a bus stop so just take the bus. its near to family mart and a liquor store. We will still book this property if ever we will revisit Nikko in the future."

"The staff were super friendly, helpful and great to get along with. The bunks were very large and had lots of space whilst also being cosy enough to feel like your own space, facilities were great and the location was really close to a conbini and bus stop!"

"Very minor comments here: The way the curtain opens on Bunk B in room B makes it a tad difficult to get in and out of. The frame/bunk on that same bed is a little creaky and I was concerned that I might wake someone up but thankfully it didn’t happen so maybes it’s no big deal!"
