Modi Lodge is quite hidden and set in a remote area. It offers a peaceful and secluded atmosphere, which can be great if you’re looking to unwind, but it also means that getting around is difficult without your own transportation. Public transport and taxis are limited in that part of Curaçao, so without a car you won’t be able to easily reach beaches, restaurants, shops, or other attractions on the island.

Nothing big . A small thing. Local food was only from one region of Uganda. A bit predictable too. But otherwise amazing food

Nothing, but it would be a bit hard to get to without transport

"Nice forest hut on the edge of a forest - 10 min to a beach by foot. You are really almost in the middle of nature here. The forest was full of blackberries when we were there. The kitchenette corner is smallish but sufficient to make a meal for a family of four."

It may be a bit challenging to find the right road leading to the house, but we managed. Go past the road leading to the two storey apartment houses, and turn to the left of the warehouse-like structure which is further on the road.

"Thank you for a wonderful stay at La Vielle, the setting was stunning, our cottage tranquil and gorgeous, and the staff so friendly and accomodating. We loved walking the trails, visiting the plunge pool with the amazing vista, and the food was excellent. The best place I've stayed in Mauritius."

"Beautiful grounds with lots of wildlife. The room was spacious and the bed big and comfortable. Water is filtered so you can drink it (unlike in most of the country). Pool are was our favourite spot to get out. We liked having access to a kitchenette. The staff here are really amazing and truly made our stay."

Kitchenette felt really old, it could do with a refurb. And despite having a stove, there were no pans to cook with. The restaurant food is good but we found it quite expensive. It’s also best if you have your own car as the property is at the end of a long dirt road, and the hotel will charge USD$10 for a one way ride to the local village (which doesn’t has much, but from there you can easily catch the bus to Belmopan, San Ignacio, etc. )

"Beautiful surroundings, so calm. The host is incredibly helpful and kind. This refuge is his personal project, and you can see his passion. The surrounding villages are small but lovely to walk through. There are nice hikes possible, including to the peak of Mount Agou, the people on the paths will kindly guide you to your destination. They are truly kind."

The location on the map is slightly off, ask for a pin before you arrive to make sure you find the right place!

"Perfect location, next to ski slope. Amazing place for skiers/ snowboarders, however you can reach it only directly from slope (but it makes stay even better) we could leave backpakcs at reception, and ski until checking. Stuff is very friendly and helpful."

Apart from the very cosy and interesting architecture , I appreciated the quality of the small things in the room , like sheets , furniture , and bathroom finishes, things that make your stay very pleasant. Het eten en drinken. Er was veel niet aanwezig van wat er op de kaart stond. Zowel van het eten als het drinken. Dat mag niet mogelijk zijn voor de prijs die je betaalt.

"The room was beautiful opening up to a sea view. Could go kayaking from just outside the room. The lodge had kayaks and life jackets available to guests. Could also go fishing or swimming - just idyllic! The staff were also really helpful. I would most definitely stay here again."

"Beautiful place next to a river and the mangrove bushes. The lady at the service desk speaks very good English. That’s was very helpful. The excursion to the monkeys was very fun and the boat tour was beautiful!"

"We stayed 2 nights and we loved it! It was the cutest place for a couple to enjoy nature. We woke up everyday with the sound of parrots and had a home-made breakfast prepared by Guadalupe and her beautiful family. We explored the surroundings, discovered hidden river pools and enjoyed the peace of being truly immersed in nature. A note on the access road: it takes around 15/20 min to get there. Totally enjoyable and doable with a 4WD and absolutely worth it!"

"Great location at the South side of Song Kul lake. Breakfast was tasty and plenty. You can also get (packed) lunches and dinner. Phone reception is good and you can charge your phone in the evening in the main yurt. Stayed for two nights there. So peaceful and relaxing. Loved it!"
